Dear UVM CEMS community,
Happy Spring! The biggest news is that VT will be providing vaccines for everyone 16 and older in just a few weeks, and our students are scheduled to be on campus full-time this Fall. We can see the light at the end of the tunnel and as the days get warmer and longer, I get this feeling that we are all just waiting a little bit longer to start jumping for joy!
Meanwhile – the pandemic did not stop us. Below you will read stories about UVM faculty (Mads Almassalkhi and Ryan McGinnis) winning the top National Science Foundation (NSF) award for young faculty – the CAREER award, and a graduate student (Caitlin Grasso) winning an NSF graduate fellowship. We are very proud of this recognition of our CEMS colleagues.
We also share exciting news about Packetized Energy – a company founded by UVM Electrical Engineering faculty (Paul Hines, Jeff Frolik, and Mads Almassalkhi), and celebrate the Vermont Engineer of the Year (CEMS alumn Jonathan Griffin) and the Vermont Student Engineer of the Year (Linh Nguyen). There are profiles of our students and their exciting research and internships, and a story on one of our newest faculty members, Jeremiah Onaolapo. I hope you enjoy these stories and share our pride in the College for the success of our faculty and students.
We always enjoy hearing from you. Please share stories of CEMS alumns and we will get them into the newsletter!
