Thanks to everyone who joined us for a gorgeous day at Jean Talon Market in Montreal! Patsy Jamieson, our wonderful Tour Leader says:
"I love to visit markets when I travel, and Marché Jean Talon in Montreal is one of my favorites. It is spectacular in late September when the harvest is at its peak. Even though we cannot bring fresh produce back across the border, I love to imagine what I would do with a beautiful basket of plum tomatoes or colorful peppers.
I also enjoy visiting this market because it is in the Little Italy neighborhood, another fascinating foodie destination. A highlight of the OLLI 2023 visit for me was lunch with new OLLI friends on the outdoor terrace of on Italian restaurant. OLLI offers many opportunities for learning, but perhaps the most valuable benefit for members is the community it provides.”

Our OLLI Program Coordinator, Hannah , shares with you all a recommendation for I am an island by Tamsin Calidas to kick off our OLLI “Book Nook” series:
Title: I am an island
Author: Tamsin Calidas
Genre: Memoir
“I am an island both indulged and squashed my whimsical notion of packing up life and moving to the Scottish Hebrides. Disenchanted by life in London, Tamsin and her husband made this incredible move, despite having no experience of crofting. The mirage of quaint island-life is quickly uprooted as Tamsin experiences financial difficulty, illness and injury, infertility, and the breakdown of her marriage. However, she finds healing and rebirth in crofting, cold water swimming, and in unlikely friends. I highly recommend this memoir!”
